London information
London is a vast cosmopolitan city, brimming with history and tradition and the cultural centre of the nation. Among the capital’s many art collections and museums is the British Museum, the oldest in the world. The variety of theatre is second to none and if it's a musical evening you want, then you can enjoy one of the popular musicals or listen to some of the world’s finest orchestras. There is a vibrant nightlife, including many lively clubs and bars and almost 6000 restaurants of all kinds, and of course traditional pubs—many of which serve food and are an integral part of socialising. Smoking is prohibited in all public buildings.
Some of the oldest and most attractive pubs overlook the River Thames that meanders through the heart of the metropolis. You could spend your entire vacation exploring the places along the riverbanks alone: from royal palaces, Shakespearean theatre, riverside pubs and art galleries to modern day apartments.
Another very important asset is the 1,800 parks, squares and gardens where people can stroll, jog, ride horses or just relax and watch the world go by.
The familiar sights such as Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, St Paul’s and the Tower, etc. are not to be missed and I recommend that these are the first on your list, but London has much more for you to explore. Have fun!
